• EQUAL-CLASS: Engineers qualified in higher non-university VET institutions – providing arguments and evidence for NQF/EQF classification

EQUAL-CLASS: Engineers qualified in higher non-university VET institutions – providing arguments and evidence for NQF/EQF classification

EQUAL-CLASS aims to study qualifications in the field of mechatronics, electrical engineering/electronics that can be obtained in higher non-university VET institutions or comparable institutions in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, and Portugal. The qualifications will be examined from three different perspectives: curricula, students and graduates. Additionally, the project will investigate to what extent professional experience gained following the completion of a relevant qualification, and the recognition of non-formal/informal learning, enables individuals to achieve another – higher – qualification level in relation to the EQF/NQF (European Qualifications Framework/National Qualifications Framework). The Competence Marix ‘Mechatronics’ (VQTS project) and the Competence Matrix ‘Electronics/Electrical Engineering’ (VQTS II project) are used for comparing qualifications.

VALBUK : Valuing Learning, Building Qualifications

The VALBUK project aims at implementing and using ECVET principles in order to facilitate access to lifelong learning of not qualified workers, particularly women with a migration background, in the professional areas of cleaning services. Based on the VQTS Model the project aims at: comparing existing qualifications in the cleaning services sector, developing a common Competence Matrix for enhancing permeability and transferability; identifying guidelines and testing practical solutions in order to combine formal preparatory training and validation of non-formal and informal learning for achieving a qualification on the basis of a modular pathway; developing operational partnerships involving stakeholders of the cleaning sector, in order to assure the sustainability of the model after the conclusion of the project.
  • Developing VET-Quality by using ECVET-Units (Quality by Units)

Developing VET-Quality by using ECVET-Units (Quality by Units)

The aim of the project is to show how (units of) learning outcomes used as an organizational principle in vocational education and training can be used in order to achieve a higher quality in the process and effects of VET. The project applies two elements of ECVET technical specifications: the development of units of learning outcomes and the appropriate competence assessment procedures for the units of learning outcomes. Partners from countries with different VET systems want to test a commonly applicable didactic concept for improving the quality of education. The focus lies upon the qualification/ working area 'Mechatronics'. The VQTS Competence Matrix 'Mechatronics' is used as the starting point for the work in the project.

ECVET-TOUR II - ECVET for the restaurant and hotel industry

The mobility of skilled workers is becoming more and more important in a large number of sectors, in particular in the restaurant and hotel industry. Mobility can be hampered by the fact that education and training qualifications are often difficult to compare across different countries. This is the starting point of the ECVET-TOUR II project. The first half of the project focuses on the development of methodological tools for promoting mobility in vocational education and training. In the second half of the project, student mobilities will be organised which will apply the developed methodology. Student mobilities are scheduled to take place between Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Austria. ECVET-TOUR II builds on the results of the the M.O.T.O. project and the ECVET-TOUR project (2008-2010). The VQTS Competence Matrices "Cook" and "Receptionist" will be used and modified according to the Slovak context.
  • NoBoMa - No Borders Manual in elderly care to promote mobility

NoBoMa - No Borders Manual in elderly care to promote mobility, international lifelong learning and the transfer of competences in Eastern, Central and Southeastern Europe

The development of competence standards in the vocational education and training in elderly care is a prerequisite for more quality in vocational education as well as for more European mobility. In the NoBoMa project the VQTS model is used for developing a Competence Matrix, Competence Profiles (in accordance with the "ECVET - European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training" recommendation) and a Future Competence Matrix by using new ideas, new methods and by adding future skill needs, in order to meet future challenges in the field "elderly care". Furthermore, on the basis of the NoBoMa Future Competence Matrix of Success, a Self-Assessment Tool will be developed to be used by elderly caregivers, learners and HR-departments in order to evaluate the quality of individual skills and competences. Furthermore, multilingual database providing useful information about how to compensate deficits identified by the Self-Assessment Tool will be developed in the frame of the project.

  • ECO-MATRIX - Application of the Vocational Qualification Transfer System model for ecological knowledge and skills

ECO-MATRIX - Application of the Vocational Qualification Transfer System model for ecological knowledge and skills

This project aimed to present ecological knowledge and skills in an innovative and systematic model, the Vocational Qualification Transfer System (VQTS). First these ‘green skills’ were filtered out from the occupational areas chemistry, biology, architecture and technology. Then they were described in the VQTS model broken down by steps of work and in the form of learning outcomes. This presentation mode aimed to enhance the transparency of ecological knowledge and skills in a vocational education and training (VET) programme. In addition, ECVET (European credit transfer system for VET) points were assigned for acquired knowledge and skills. This quantitative assessment of learning outcomes aimed to serve as a model example for how credits can be given for (partial) qualifications and for acquired knowledge and skills in another country.

  • Modules for Vocational Education and Training for competences in Europe II - MOVET II

Modules for Vocational Education and Training for competences in Europe II - MOVET II

MOVET II focuses on transparency and recognition of learning outcomes (LO). This Transfer of Innovation project (TOI) from 2010 until 2012 explores a practical approach to the system ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training). Knowledge, skills and competences acquired by students within transnational modules will be assessed, certified and recognized. A VQTS-based Competence Matrix (for mechanics in industry) and a Taxonomy Table as instruments enhance transparency of LO and promote mutual trust between training providers. The seven new developed modules for students in IVET in the field of engineering finish with especially designed assessments of LO. Vocational schools, companies, competent bodies and other protagonists of VET from Germany, Denmark, Finland and Slovakia validate the acquired LO as relevant for the national training profiles. Sending institutions recognize these LO within regular IVET of their students. A memorandum of understanding of all involved partners serves as a basis for the acknowledgement of learning outcomes.
